Sales of RECs
In late 2008, SSG negotiated a contract with Bonneville Environmental Foundation for the sale of the groups RECs. This contract called for them to purchase a limited number RECs from the group for the last half of 2008 and additional RECs for the years 2009 and 2010. Due to the limited volume of RECs they were able to purchase we limited group membership so we would not have more members and RECs than we had contractual committment from a purchaser.
Even with this self imposed limit on the growth of the group from 2008 through 2010 SSG has paid out $8,188.59 to members for the sale of their RECs by the group. The lack of an RPS in Florida and the restrictions on purchase of out of state REC in other states with RPS requirements left the group with no viable market for the sale of their RECs.

Currently we do not have a purchaser for our RECs and see a very limited or non existent market in Florida for the sale of RECs. See Sale of RECs tab for more details.
This could change so we recommend you register your system with the group. Give us your contact information and details of your system size by fully completing the Contact Us form. This will give us the information we need about you and your solar system.
If the Florida market for sale of RECs improves and a purchaser is found we will meet the contract needs with RECs of existing members and registered system owners 1st before opening the group up to new members. As a homeowner in Florida who has installed a solar system to produce some or all of your own electric needs, you should join our group. There is no cost to join and nothing to lose other than a few minutes of your time to fill out the Green-E form and send in.
